Nick’s Wine of the Week
A beautiful summer evening deserves a refreshing, crisp white wine on the patio.
This week, I’ve chosen this Marc Bredif Vouvray from Frederik. Don’t worry—I won’t go full Miles-from-Sideways with a ten-minute dissertation on the wine. But there are a few things worth knowing.
Vouvray is made from Chenin Blanc grapes grown in France’s Loire Valley and can range in style from semi-sweet to bone-dry. This particular bottle leans crisp, with vibrant acidity and mouthwatering tropical fruit notes. It’s perfect for easy summer sipping—especially alongside a chunk of Humbolt Fog goat cheese. Grab a bottle and enjoy.

Our Handmade Ice Cream: Perfect for Summer!
What makes Look’s Marketplace’s ice cream so dang good? Sourcing quality ingredients, chef-driven recipes, and consistent quality. Today we’ll be discussing everything that goes into that perfect summer scoop.
Our never ending commitment to only using the highest quality ingredients is the start of our journey. We use organic, local, farmer-owned milk and cream, fresh fruits, gourmet chocolate, and the highest quality purees. You really can taste the difference.
Here at Look’s, we can produce ice creams that scoop easily at different temperatures by adjusting the fat content, sugar levels, stabilizers, and air incorporation in the recipe. Higher sugar and alcohol content lower the freezing point, making ice cream softer at colder temps, while higher fat content can give a creamy texture even at harder freezes. By tweaking these elements, we can control texture and scoopability across a range of storage and serving temperatures. It’s through this process we’ve achieved the perfect scoop straight from our ice cream freezer.
With over 100 recipes under our belt and counting, it’s safe to say: we’re good at this! Don’t forget to check the ice cream counter at your next Look’s visit - you might find the next seasonal flavor to fall in love with!
